My new favourite show is Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. It echoes the structure of Restaurant Makeover but it's more from a cook's perspective rather than making over the restaurant decor and tweeking the menu. I'm a sucker for these "success" stories, I guess. I've seen 3 episodes so far and Ramsay (known for his venomous British tongue) plays it as sortava no-bull nice guy this time around. I see his Hell's Kitchen persona was a no go. He still swears a lot but is more considerate of people's err.. 'feelings'. One thing I love about the show is that right at the end there is a 5 minute segment where he goes back to the restaurant after a coupla months and sees how things are doing. If he's made a mark or not. I always wished they'd followed up like this on RM. Out of the 3 episodes things have changed; some for the better, some for the worse but business seems to have picked up no doubt. I also get a laugh outta pickin' up snappy British slang, like, "you smoowth bawstawd...".

Oh, I also checked out Celebrity Cooking Showdown a few days ago. It's premise is 3 celebrities train under a pro chef and go at it for 50 minutes to produce 3 dishes. One of the contestants was Cindy Margolis and I couldn't stop staring at her boobies. Like, seriously... Anyway, didn't stick around too see who won. Yawn...

Lastly, I picked up a new guitar on monday. Ibanez Artist 1982 with a cream yellow finish. Damn is it sexay...

Been a bit sick this week. I think it's my body adjusting from rainy to nice weather. lol

There's a convention in Calgary coming up which I will be attending. You can find the promotional page here. Lots of cool guests. Friggin' Chewbacca's gonna be there! I see they've added some Udon guys I've worked with before so I'm happy to be in good company. It's a one day con on May 7th. Make an effort to show up!

Oh, plus, they will be having an art auction for the Christopher Reeve's Foundation with all the work being printed in a collected artbook which is kinda cool. They've asked me to contribute a western themed piece so here's my contribution. It's still gotta be inked.

For the right price, this could be yours!!

I've been checking out some of the interviews at Comic Geek Speak. Notably, the podcasts with C.B. Cebulski and Paul Pope. I like the very free and easy way the interviews are conducted, plus, the recordings are of really good quality so I don't have to adjust volume or hear a buzz on top of the person speaking. They have a huge archive of podcasts with a bunch of interesting guests so I'll spend this week catching up on some of them as I work.

New BFX is in the bag. Should be up in a day or two. Here's the cover:

So, my mom was here over the weekend. She was nice enough to drop by for a few days on her way to Japan. She's been here a coupla times before and the first thing she always does when she arrives is to tell me how filthy I am and assesses the damage. Seriously. She drops her bags, takes a quick scan and after that she's a blur. Within an hour or two my place is spotless. Can't love er enoungh for that. She also cooks dumplings and curry to be frozen and eaten at a later date. I just had some last night. Damn. Moms are awesome.

My 2 month sabbatical is almost over. I can't believe how fast the weeks just disappeared. Can't say I was as productive as I'd like to have been but I did get a good chunk of the Beast script done and layed out. I was hoping to have at least half the pages done. Oh, how naive I was. Got another BFX week almost done with. I'll attach a panel below. I also found THE best reference site for clothing. If there are any artists or illustrators that are reading this you gotta check out this site. Has pics of pretty much every brand that exists and from every possible angle. Like, holy friggin' shit!! Tops, jeans, accessories, you name it. If I had found this a year ago, Mary Jane woulda been sporting a mega-super-sweet wardrobe. Faaaaaawk!!

Finally, I've started to gather images for a sketchbook. I figure I should have some sort of merchandise to sell at cons this summer so I've jumped on the bandwagon. Looking into printers with reasonable prices as well.
