Spent a weekend fishing on the Fraser River. It was interesting to see just how fast the current is there and realizing that, frig, salmon have it tough going up river. I went with the old man as a birthday and father's day gift for him. Was pretty cool. We didn't catch anything, unfortunately, but it was nice to just chill and forget about work and shit. Man, I got a crazy farmer's tan, though. It looks like I was strung upside-down and dunked in wine up to my elbows. Not pretty. lol.

Work is now killing me...

It's official. I will be at Chicago Wizard World this year. Just booked my flight and hotel and downloaded application forms off the Wizard site. I didn't realize it was so soon after San Diego. Last year, I was able to do the Toronto con and fly to Chicago and fly home in about a week and a half's time. They musta rearranged the dates this year. Anyway, I'm going and that's all that matters. I will update the site with merchandise I will be selling to let everyone know what they can expect other than sketches.

I have another strip today but I should talk a bit about what happened between this strip and the last since I'm missing a few in between.

So, Tom is all depressed that his friend M has gone to California. Fortunately, a new girl Zoë has just enrolled in his high-school and has taken a liking to him. Not that kinda liking but a chum-chum sort. She sees that all his inventions seem to be half-baked and lackluster and all he talks about is M so, wtf, she suggests going to California to find her. He balks and passes it off as a trite joke but the next thing he knows Zoë has pulled up along side him in a phat ride. He reluctantly agrees and they are off.

I've been killing time on utube lately. There are some truly amazing clips on the site like this one:

When I say 'amazing', I mean, amazingly useless but there's no denying the skill involved.

Speaking of skill there are clips of dudes shredding on their guitars that have been rather jawdropping and breakdancers doin' their thing on just about every surface imaginable.

Ahh... utube...

Too much soccer this week. It's addictive. Even when there's a team I don't care about I can't help but leave it on and listen to the brit commentary. It sooths me...

What's up with telemarketers in Vancouver? I donated once, 2 years ago, and now it seems like every charity and sales company in British Columbia is calling to beg for money. I understand that many social programs and charities are for a good cause and are there to help people but I get a call a DAY asking for cash or trying to sell me somethin'. Rediculous. It's counter-productive since I'm more annoyed than inspired by the meriad of operators droaning on, reading off their monitors with their monotone and long-winded speeches. At least have some heart when you talk, eh? They ask for a huge sum at first and then try to bargain down to 20 bucks through pity. Like, wtf. Hey, telebegger, leave me alone. Call me when you care and maybe I will.

In other news, my lava lamp died. The gel in the jar just sits there like a half-deflated balloon. I am sad.

Despite a rather terrible Japan game yesterday I had a super productive day. Other than picking up a wack of Fedex boxes, buying some supplies, mailing out bills and sending out some artwork I finally had time to go down to the passport office and crawl through their line-ups and waiting areas to hand in my paperwork. Luckily, the window lady I got was pretty cool and we talked about life and setting future plans efficiently. She was a single mother working long enough for her son to finish high school and then she was gonna quit, travel and go back to school. She wasn't too much older than me so it was inspiring to see someone who had the balls (well, guts in this case) to reset and start over. My hope to one day do culinary school still seems possible. So, I got my passport and some life counseling at once on a Monday morning. Booyah.

But otherwise, I'm doin' good. The first World Cup Japan match versus Australia is gonna be on in about 8 hours. 6am PST but luckily I just woke up. lol Sometimes being totally fucked is a good thing. NIPPON!!!!

Seeing the partying and energy on TV reminds me of the last World Cup when I was in Japan. I was in a bar watching the Ireland match and everyone was goin' NUTZ. Not many sports can bring the world together like that. It's truly amazing.

Anyway, go Japan. Go Germany. That is all.

So, I've set up my planner on my desktop thanks to Reemo. Thanks to all those who gave me suggestions and links. It was much appreciated. I decided on synching google calendar into yahoo widget and I now have a sweet lookin' organizer right in my face. No more excuses for missed deadlines and commitments. Yahoo widget also came with some useful tools like a weather forecast, an analog clock and a bunch of other things. How cool is that?

In other news, I've been working on the Yellow Ledbetter solo and I need a haircut.

Anyone know of any good free desktop daily planners? I've looked around a bit and they've all been kinda crappy. I need to start having deadlines and things to do right in front of my face or else I keep forgetting. Something that shows a calendar and lets you type stuff into the dates.

That would be awesome.

Here's that Cloak & Dagger pic inked and finished. I felt that the all black woulda been too heavy and went for a lighter shadow underneath Dagger.

Now on to colours.

Despite the blah weather the Vancouver Comicon went well yesterday. Thanks to Leonard for putting together another successful show. I've uploaded s'more sketches up in my gallery section under Con Sketches 2. I had an assortment of first-time requests like Supergirl and The Hobgoblin so that was cool. Made some cash, met Cameron Stewart and Dave McCaig and had some ostrich Curry for the first time. Good timez.

I worry too much.

It seems like I worry about everything lately. I've got a local con to do this weekend and I'm SO not ready, I've still gotta apply for San Diego and get a dealer's permit, I've got the next issue of MJ to start and I have a bunch of bills to pay. It never ends. And one of my childhood habits when I worry is biting my nails. It's kinda gross, I know, considering some of the grit and grime that collects underneath them but at least it keeps my nails trim and clean. lol. Come to think of it alot of my stupid worries come from procrastinating on things so I should just get my shit together. Maybe I wouldn't have to bite my nails so much.

Anyway, I'm kinda tired from pulling an all-nighter finishing this issue of MJ so I gotta crash. Oh, pay rent first.
