I'm a week behind with this news but Terry Moore of Strangers in Paradise fame has been announced to replace Sean Mckeever as writer on Spider-man Loves Mary Jane. An artist has yet to be announced but I'm assuming they'll be sticking with David Hahn. Marvel has put up a short video segment here. It's kinda cool to see my art in a video. It's like the characters are almost moving but not really. Anyway, I'm happy to hear that Marvel will continue publishing the title. It's been the little book that could since the beginning and to see it live beyond a full creative overhaul proves that it has purpose and an audience.

New site just dropped. Hope you like it. As mentioned before, I went with a minimal design and added a few new functions. Not all the links are working yet but they will be functional by some time tomorrow. Big ups to Tu for encoding everything and his patience.

Mike Choi (Witchblade, X-23) has been in town so I hung out with him for a coupla days. Showed him around a bit. I love showing Japan to a first-timer. Well, I believe Mike said he had been here when he was 7 but that doesn't really count. The awe and enthusiasm they show is something I'll never experience again so it reminds me of how I was a long time ago and puts things into focus. Japan ain't perfect by any means but nothing is. It's nice to be re-enforced of the good on occasion.

This also relates back to comics in a way. I was in a slump all last month and couldn't bring myself to draw at all. It was wierd. Not being on a fixed schedule and not having deadlines kinda killed my motivation, I guess. Especially coming off of 3 years of having an editor pushing you and steady commitments to fullfill at Marvel to having absolutely no pressure from anywhere except yourself? I seem to have forgotten why I moved and what my job is. In the end, though, I think that month helped reset a lot of shit for me. It's sorta like taking one step back in order to go three steps forward. Anyway, I just reached my waxing quota for the week. Onward.

Haven't bought any darts yet. Can't seem to find a store that's open when I go.

Another page to show ya. This follows the one in the previous post so you can get an idea of the flow. It'll look cooler once it's toned.

I noticed this last week but the thermometer has been inching closer and closer to something uncomfortably hot, hence, making it difficult to work during the day. I sweat after eating a bowl of instant noodles. Not cool. And, yes, that's my gauge and indication for it getting too hot. I've been thinking back to how mild and comfortable it was year round back in Vancouver. The 8 months of rain kinda sucked, yeah, but it was a fair tradeoff in my books. Oh, boo hoo.

I finally got my shit together and began designing a new site with my web guy, Tu. I've had this yellow thing for close to 2 years now, I believe. Time for a revamp. It'll be less colourful this time around and rather minimal. I've been mentally starting from "square one" ever since moving so I felt it would reflect my state of mind nicely. There won't be any crazy new features to it, btw. Maybe one or two additions but I chose to go with things that weren't too work or upkeep intensive. Stay tuned.

Speaking of new. I've been getting into darts lately. It's funny. I always thought it was something for old fat dudes to do while drunk but it's actually quite fun and challenging. Wait. Maybe this is a sign... Anyway, I've been getting into it enough that I've considered getting a set of my own darts even. I've also been making an effort to checkout dart tournaments on youtube to see how the pros do it as well as reading up on tech tips online. What the hell am I doing? I've got comics to draw!?

Finally, I posted a page of breakdowns from my current project a little while ago. I recommend going back and searching it out if you haven't seen it. Well, here are the finished pencils. It's still gotta be toned and lettered but you can get a good idea of the general look I've been going for.

Enjoy.

edit: I just now realized she has 2 left hands in the last panel there. Holy crap. I'm retarded.
